It's official everyone! We crossed the T's and Dotted the I's and we are working on moving our beautiful studio to a brand new location just a 5 minute drive away! We did this with our members in mind, if it wasn't absolutely necessary we wouldn't be doing this but unfortunately staying at our current location would cause for us to increase our prices (which we think is something everyone can agree is no go). We went and took a look at the location and we think it's going to be better than ever for a couple of reasons and we're going to take you step by step through our process so you don't feel like you're in the dark. Location We are moving on the corner of University and County line by Olive Garden. We are directly across the street from Max Taps (we checked they do have wine on tap as well as beer so yay!), and right next to Taste of Philly (we had the vents moved around so we can't smell them in our building cause who wants to smell yummy sammies during a workout right?). It's going to be a quieter location with a lot more parking! Layout The space is just a little smaller than our current studio but trust us, that's not what you're going to be thinking when you first walk in. Instead of having a separate room for cycling and yoga it's all going to be one big open space (with no office either). The towers will be spread out instead of right next to each other which will give you plenty of room for your work and not have to worry about coordinating with your partner There will be plenty of mirrors and lighting for you to be able to see all while still keeping our warm welcoming atmosphere that we already have! What This Means For You
Well it just means that you have to be ready for the move! We will be closing the studio on March 27th and opening up at our new location on April 7th. We will be running classes as normal after that and are very excited to be sharing this experience with you guys. There's a little diarama and we will be bringing in some of the samples from our new location so that you know what you can be expecting from us! We hope that you're just as excited as us for this move and if any of you lovely hotties have any questions about anything just one of our instructors we have just about all of the details we need for this and would love to answer any and all questions so you guys are comfortable and ready. Love what you're reading or think this location will be the perfect start for you? Then like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram and go to the contact page and start with you IM=X Pilates journey to a happier, healthier you. #imxpilateshr#pilates#health#fitness#cycling#yoga#circuittraining

Hey Hotties! We're sure you all have noticed the schedule changes but if not don't worry we're going to give you the 401 about all the changes that we are bringing to the schedule
Class Times: We've know it's hard to commit to a hour long class when you have a crazy schedule. With kids, work and everything in between we want to help make sure that you take the time to take care of yourselves which is why we have started to play around with our class times. Most of our fundamental classes are now 45-50 minutes instead of the hour. How does that even make a difference? Well if you think about it, what if you have company coming over for dinner and you just don't have time for a full hour class, ten minutes makes all the difference so that you get home and work your magic to ensure that everything is on track and going smoothly in those extra 10 or 15 minutes! You still get your full workout in all while making sure that you have extra time to get yourself back on your way. Class Types: We're adding some new classes into the schedule! We listen to our members and want to offer you guys as much as we possibly can to ensure that you are never bored with your workout. As of right now we offer Pilates for all levels (which you know is already differing every time you come in for a class), cycle classes, some with TRX integrated in those classes, barre, and a variety types of yoga classes. I mean, what else is there to offer right? Well we figured out more to add to our schedule! Our newest IM=X instructor Catie is now offering Circuit training classes for our members every other Friday Night and Saturday afternoon and it's guaranteed to kick your butt! It's scheduled for 45 minutes but varies from 30-40 minutes and trust us, that's all you need to be feeling some new muscles the next day. You have 4 minute rounds and 4 different exercises, one minute for each one and then a 3 minute break as we get into the next round. Using hand weights, the stability ball, the ring, you name it! You're never going to get bored and only going to get stronger. She has modifications for people with wrist and elbow problems, knee and even back issues! She also keeps them IM=X Pilates method in these classes as well so that you are on the right track to success! Our beloved Sara is now adding a Pilates Mat class the schedule every other Friday night! For those of you who have used the mat for abs in class know how killer this workout is going to be and for those of you who haven't tried yet, you're going to love what you're going to get out of it. With very little equipment and using your own body weight you're guaranteed to challenge your core strength, balance and build as well as tone your muscles to transform yourself even further along with our reformer classes! Each class will challenge you and make you say 'holy abs' the next morning you're getting out of bed! Lastly, we have a new Yoga instructor in the house! Lourdes started her first of a 6 week series of yoga 101. She is going to take us through the basics of yoga, teach flow and poses to help us all feel confident going into any yoga classes further into the future! At the end of this series we're hoping to add more yoga classes throughout the week for our members to take advantage of! So give all these new classes a try, let our instructors know how you like them or what you wish would be different so we can make sure we are delivering the best possible services to everyone! If you love them tell us so we know to add more so everyone can love them! If there are any other ideas for classes that should be added, or more that should be added make sure to speak out because we're excellent at teaching physical fitness... not so much in the mind reading department. Love what you're reading? Like us on Facebook, comment below and follow us on Instagram. Show us to all your friends who would love this and give us a class to start a 7 day FREE trial with us and fall in love with exercise again! #imxpilateshr#pilates#fitness#health#cycling#TRX#yoga#circuittraining#strength Happy New Year and welcome back everyone! Now that the crazy holiday season is officially over we are excited to announce that with this new year has brought us two new IM=X Certified Instructors Catie and A familiar Yoga instructor, Irina! Sara has been a member with us at the studio since 2015. So if you take one of her classes and start to think 'man she looks familiar' well that's because she's been a loyal client with us! We're so happy for her to join us as an instructor and look forward to all that she is going to be bringing with her classes. Her bubbly personality and personable touch during class will not only make your workout more relaxing, but motivate you to do better without you even realizing it! Since she has so much experience doing all these workouts herself she's the perfect instructor to ask for modifications, ideas and what you should be feeling during each movement. She is a big Pilates enthusiast and a Blue Belt in NIA Dance classes that we are hoping to add to the schedule soon! Catie is our newest instructor but not new to the training game. She owns her own personal training business, 'RageOn Fitness' being a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and NASM Nutrition Certified makes her an exciting new addition to the IM=X Pilates team. We are looking forward to her different spin on our already butt kicking workouts and hopefully adding some more cardio intense classes to our schedule! You'll find her teaching style to be accompanied with a soft tone, giving a calming touch to your class all while making sure that you are getting your butt kicked. With her sense of humor and warm smile you're going to feel right at home as she continues to kick up our classes and extra notch. ![]() Irina, unlike Catie, isn't a Colorado native at all! In fact she isn't from America! She grew up in Rostov-on-Don in the south of Russia! She graduated from Rostov Teachers' Training university as a PE teacher and taught fitness in Russia for six years. When she came to America she discovered yoga and has been practicing Iyengar yoga for 10 years. She is certified in Yoga, meditation, mindfulness and wellness which she has been teaching for about two years. Her soothing tone and slow paced yoga classes is the perfect release for any busy worker who just needs a break from their day to day life! She currently teaches Tuesday nights but will be adding more yoga classes (and different kinds of yoga) to the schedule very soon! This is our year here at IM=X Pilates, and we want to help you make it yours too. With our low impact strength building, toning, flexibility and body shaping exercises we're the perfect ingredient to your current fitness formula. Don't have a fitness formula? It's not a problem! The IM=X Pilates formula is build to stretch and fatigue the muscles, not tear and break them which means that you can take a class every day if you want to!

A healthy and strong spine is less likely to be injured." Hey hotties! Since the days are getting shorter we understand that people start to feel a little lazy, wanting to take 6 naps a day and just calling sick into work for a month straight but, as you probably know, it's not a perfect world. Being lazy doesn't get you the results you want in any aspect of life, especially your workout.
So on that note let's just take a quick moment to talk about just one (or I guess five) of the things that makes IM=X Pilates different! With the IM=X Pilates method, we have 5 basic fundamentals that we establish at the beginning of every class, and remind you of during the rest of the class so you continue to grow and move on with your journey. Spinal Elongation: This is probably the part you'll remember most, the stretching. Throughout the day, gravity and all your regular day activities put pressure on the spine, compressing the soft tissues and nerves. So in other words, you're shorter at the end of the day than you are at the beginning of the day! So with lengthening through the spine at the beginning of class we are beginning to lengthen through each vertebrae, helping you regain your length and actually protects your spine for every movement during class. Aside from helping you lose some pain and grow some length, it also helps achieve spine symmetry. Symmetry is essential for equal and bilateral muscle activation patterns. Allowing you to stabilize, which helps prevent injury and improve strength. And you runners out there, studies show that you lose stature during a run, compressing the spine, which may cause back pain and discomfort. So adding Pilates in a couple times a week to your training will not only help you prevent further pain, but may reverse it and train other muscles that could help you perform better with IM=X Pilates! Forced Exhale: Lets do a little exercise (I know you already did some Pilates great job but this one is super simple and will prove a point). Place your hands on your hips (this is better if you're standing), now move your fingers in towards your belly three inches. notice the muscle movement during your normal breathing. Nothing all the interesting right? Ok now just blow air out of your mouth just a little faster. It's getting a little more fun but still, nothing all that impressive. Now purse your lips, and force the air out like you're trying to blow out a candle on the other side of the room. Crazy right?! A bunch of muscle movement is going on. So if you can get that deep of an abdominal contraction during breathing just imagine the other kind of benefits you can get just adding this to your workout routine! If you use the forced exhale for EVERY exhale during a class you're getting about what? 5,000 exhales, and forced exhales means abdominal contraction and abdominal contraction means helllllllo beach body. To be a little more specific, the forced exhale targets to increase strength and endurance of the Transverses abdominis; the most important muscle for stabilization (and stabilization = most effective workout). On top of that, it targets the stabilizers BEFORE your movement, ensuring your body is ready and at 100% before any exercise. Pelvic Stabilization: If you didn't already know, Pilates is a big fan of the Pelvic floor (the muscles that control all the fun stuff). Engaging and finding the pelvic floor muscles before going into your exercises helps you realize what you're really looking for whenever we tell you to do anything with the pelvic floor. Especially if you've never used these muscles before. PST! If your body is not regularly working these muscles (like all muscles) they will lose strength and durability. Continuing to work with the Pelvic floor helps prevent incontinence and has been praised at helping in the bedroom! Ribcage Stabilization: This exercise is used to help you engage the deeper abdominals to help support the stability of the spine during arm movements, again, stabilization is key. This also teaches you to activate the deep abdominal muscles before any arm movements to make all of your upper body exercises safe and effective. Spine Stabilization: The last fundamental is used to teach you to co-contract the core muscles of the trunk to maintain, and solidify an elongated neutral spine position for all exercises. Using this fundamental throughout class increases trunk muscle endurance. Increasing this endurance may help with current back problems by strengthening the muscles and will help prevent future problems! So if you forgot why we always start with the five fundamentals before our classes hopefully this gave you a quick refresh, or maybe, this is the first time learning about the fundamentals and give you insight as to why we are always reminding you to keep a long neutral spine, or queuing every single exhale! So during your next class try focusing on the fundamentals and see how they can really push you further into your IM=X Pilates journey and overall health! Have our fundamentals made a difference in your fitness health? Comment below, share your story on Facebook and tag a friend who needs to read this. Haven't benefited from IM=X Pilates yet? go to our contact page, get in touch and sign up for your first week FREE! #imxpilateshr#pilates#health#fitness#yoga#spinning#motivation#fundamentals Now that we have your attention we just want to take a moment and write a short little informational piece on springs in our studio!
We understand that Colorado is a very fit and healthy state, people like to make sure they get the most intense workout they possibly can because, 'no pain no gain' right? Well that is where you're wrong! Our springs don't represent a weight. It's a resistance. And by putting too little or much resistance can be doing you more harm than good! Our instructors train for a minimum of 40 hours just to be able to teach a basic Pilates class, they know what the spring options are for everyone; whether you're strong, weak or moving your arm that one way hurts, they know how to make it better for you. Aside from that, Pilates is not at all a 'no pain no gain' workout. Pilates was originally made for injured troops during war, to help them recover and was proven that Pilates helped them heal and gain strength back faster than if they were only to do the basic exercises given to them. Unlike with weight training, Pilates isn't trying to tear your muscles so that they'll build up. Instead, we are stretching the muscles, allowing them to work longer and harder, with no rest time! Sometimes just adding one extra blue spring to what the recommended spring load is could lead to injury depending on the movement, it could lead to neck injury, or because it's just too heavy may lead you to sitting incorrectly, which if you know us, we're all about natural posture and staying comfy. So putting too much resistance can cause you to start using other parts of your body to make up for the lack of posture, leading to further aches in pain through the back and the rest of the body. So when your instructor says to change those springs, just remember that they have trained more hours than you in this situation, they know how to get you to where you need to go, and it's going to feel much more natural than trying to figure out these springs for yourself. And if they come up and say they're going to change your springs don't be offended! It means they see something you aren't, and by changing the resistance you're going to feel much more comfortable and capable of completing your workout that day! Now there is a fun fact about resistance, more doesn't mean harder. Sometimes having a lighter spring load is the harder choice. So if you are curious as to how to get more ab work into your class that is going to be focusing on arms that day, just ask your instructor. They know tons about how to change the things you're already used to to make it new to you again and have you waking up the next day saying 'ouch it hurts to laugh' (which in our opinion is one of the best ouch feelings in the world). Alright that's enough lecturing, hopefully this will help you understand our method a little more, encourage you to ask more questions in class and discuss with your Pilates family about what they do to make their workouts a little more challenging for themselves! If you love what you're reading make sure to share this on Facebook, tag someone who would be interested in this read and if you're interested in starting your free week trial with us to see all the amazing benefits that IM=X Pilates has to offer! #imxpilateshr#pilates#blog#health#fitness#spin#yoga#TRX#reformer#workout Sometimes you may not see a reason to change your life style until life decides to give you a push. That's what happened with Robin. After having a Prophylactic Mastectomy as well as two other reconstructive surgeries, on top of being a type I diabetic, Robin had to start something to gain her strength back and fix her physical self. Her physical therapist had suggested that she give Pilates a try to gain back her core strength and gain flexibility, and Jeri her IM=X Pilates friend told Robin to give us a try for herself! Three years later she's still an avid fan and faithful member. Not only is she still sticking to her weekly routine, but has gotten her family involved! About four months after joining her husband Gary decided to join Robin's journey to recovery and both decided that their weekly bike rides and walks just was not enough. I saw how much Robin loved IM=X and the community within the studio between instructors and members and chose to join! The benefits of what they've achieved in just three short years have amazing benefits. They not only met their three goals they had when they first began, of strength, weight loss and flexibility but also achieved other goals they didn't even know that they had! Gary never realized how his balance and strength has affected all other areas of his life and Robin had healed from her mastectomy and has even impressed her doctor with the amount of flexibility she has achieved and even recovered from the recovery process after the procedure. Seven months of tissues expansion lead to an affect on my posture and flexibility. Also sleeping on my back for a year caused back pain and a very weak core. Her time with IM=X Pilates has helped her strengthen her core and helped her with her back pain and as a bonus helped cure other aches and pains! Aside from giving them a physical benefits through Pilates, IM=X has also strengthen their relationship. It's the first exercise routine that they've both stuck to faithfully, and after 32 years of marriage they say they're closer than ever because they exercise together! We see how our bodies have changed and that is a very good relationship ;) After three years of faithfully coming to classes Gary and Robin have become one of the most popular couples in the studio, always greeting everyone with a smile on their face, and making sure that anyone who walks through that door feels welcomed, asks how they enjoyed their first couple of classes and encouraging everyone to keep at it, that it is worth it if you stick with it. As a couple they want to encourage any new members or anyone who feels stuck in their physical journey to just stay with it. Commit to 3 classes a week, when you strengthen your core it takes a way the pain and weak back as well as other aches you may not have really realized that you had! The variety of spin, TRX, the tower, mat, reformer and free weights give us a great variety. Also the community of member's as well as our instructors feel like family. We both 100% recommend IM=X to our friends and family Gary and Todd (one of our amazing instructors) showing off the Pilates Hotties of IM=X! The Seaber family! Gary and Robin's daughters love getting gift certificates for the studio for Christmas so they can all take their favorite classes together!

- "Why am I not getting sore anymore? Have I reached my physical peak?" - "I've been sticking to the same classes for a while, what's my next step to take my IM=X Pilates fitness journey to the next level?" - "Summer is coming to an end and now my schedule is going to change, what if I'm not able to take as many classes as I was able to?" -"Is there anything I could mix in with my Pilates workouts to make them harder, or something I could do at home to continue reaching my fitness goals?" - "What if I want to start bringing friends or family members, what's the best way to get started?" Well have no fear you Pilates Hottie, we have all the answers for you! Why am I not getting sore anymore? Is this my fitness peak? Just like with any new workout routine, you muscles aren't used to all the different movements, resistance or duration you're putting them through. So when you woke up the day after your first Fundamentals class hardly able to walk you worked some new muscles (ya go you!). So after a while of classes your muscles begin to get used to the movements and area able to bounce back much faster than you were at the beginning. So Why aren't you getting sore? Because you've trained you muscles for this! Now you may occasionally get sore (especially after taking one of Darci's literal butt kicking classes), but those are the days that you're increasing the repetition, but you probably realize that even your most sore days don't tend to last as long as the begging. "Have I reached my physical peak?" Absolutely not! Muscles don't just grow and flourish, your body is a garden, it needs to be maintained with lots of love and care in order to become something beautiful. Through Pilates you're maintaining, growing and absolutely flourishing (especially when you add the Forced Exhale into the mix). When you stop giving your body the love and attention it requires is when you realized that you may have back tracked a little bit (any Pilates Hottie who's gone on vacation for a week and tried to jump right back in can verify that). So don't panic! Keep watering and growing. What's My Next Step? If you're still taking those Fundamental classes and you're beginning you feel like you could teach the class you've done it so many times, it may be time to kick things up a notch. Adding just one Hybrid or All Levels class can bring you another step closer to your fitness goal. Hybrid classes mix mat and reformer Pilates, training the same muscles but in a new way ensuring that you're getting something great out of it. All levels mixes a wide variety of people, from beginners to veterans your classes are always going to be different. Instructors base their classes based on who they have in classes that day (hint the more veterans there are the more intense it's going to get). Don't feel too ready to jump into something faster paced or go too different just yet? Don't worry! There are always modifications for almost all exercises to make sure you're going to get the results you're wanting from your classes. By changing your spring load, to lifting a leg while during push ups and triceps dips can really make all the difference. Make sure to talk to your instructor on what you next steps are and get extra tips (not every instructor is the same! One might have a exercise that works for you more than another as suggested!). Questions are always welcome in classes... in face we encourage it! Schedule Change! Schedule changing? We get it! That's why at the end of every season there are some modified changes to our weekly schedule. Listening to our clients we look into our schedule, see where we could add more difficult or easier classes during different times to try and accommodate everyone. If you think that you have a great suggestion on what we should add to what time feel free to talk to one of our great instructors. They're here to make sure that all our Pilates Hotties get the best of their workouts! Mix It UP! There are plenty of steps to begin increasing your health to help you reach your fitness goals even at home! The first and most important is your diet. What you put in is what you get out. And if you're putting pizza in, you're probably going to get pizza into your workouts (not as great as you think we tried it and don't recommend it). You could also mix in some extra cardio on top of your weekly Pilates schedule. If you live near by, walking or jogging to your class burns extra calories (and helps make your butt look better too). If you work at a desk job, take a break every hour, go grab some water, instead of emailing a coworker, go to their desk. There's plenty of little tricks you can do and they all add up in the end! For your Pilates we recommend just doing what you're already doing, but focus on the form of your routine, are your legs in a perfect table top? Do you think you could add a little extra resistance with your springs (if deemed safe by your instructor of course)? Don't wait for the instructor to begin counting with push ups, be the first one to start, focusing on quality of the push ups instead of quantity, that being said focus on the quality of all your exercises! And if you haven't joined our group on Facebook you probably should it's a great place to meet other Pilates friends and get your motivation on. Just look up IM=X Pilates Hotties and ask to join! If you're a member we'll accept you quickly and you begin on all the Pilates fun! How Do I Get My Friends in on this AMAZING Pilates Journey with me? But just like with all fun there is a price, whether it be from money, energy or in the worst case... calories. While agreeing to a weekly happy hour with your besties during the summer months seems like a fantastic idea in the beginning, but your jeans may be disagreeing with you very soon. So we decided to give all our Pilates Hotties a little tip guide on how to have all the fun you could want, without all the calories your skinny jeans hates. What's my stomach going to thank me for? As you all probably know, hard liquor is going to get you where you want to go (maybe a little more quickly than we would like) with the least amount of calories. An ounce (or a shot for you veterans) has approximately 64 calories! Now if your a scotch on the rocks type of drinker you're looking for a great night with little worries for your belt line. Now if you are more a social drinker and don't want to pound down the drinks to forget the taste than a vodka soda is your next best choice! The average cocktail has 1.5 ounces of alcohol, equating to about 96 calories in the hard alcohol while soda water contains no calories! This is a great drink to cut the drink while still enjoying the summer. What if I hate spirits?
If you've never been a whisky man or a tequila girl and more of the social drinker with wines and beer, this one's for you. For beer drinkers, your stomach isn't going to like this very much. The average beer has about 150 calories per drink, while the lighter beer has about 110 calories. And since the alcohol concentration is much lower than all other drinks, (beer averages about 9% while hard alcohol averages around 80% for alcohol content) it means that you have to drink much more in order to get the same effect. So just by cutting your beer intake in half from your normal weekly consumption saves you half the calories that can be used for so much more! Or if that doesn't really sweeten your tea, than try just replacing just one of those beers consumed a week with a choice that has fewer calories. While it doesn't do much from the sounds of it, it does add up and helps you begin to make more conscious choices for your diet. If wine is more your style then don't be afraid because you're going to love the news! Every wine is different (and if you drink wine you probably already know that). For you red wine coinsures, the average class (6 ounces) is only 80 calories! A nice dry white is around 75! However, if you're looking to lose inches around the waist there isn't a wonderful solution to keep your alcohol intake coming while still losing the pounds except for drinking spirits straight with a little bit of ice. So your best option to continue to lose weight would be to just cut one drink out of your weekly intake at a time until you reach your intake goal. Any cocktails that I can love without the guilt? There are a couple of options if you are feeling a bit indulgent and want to sound oh so fancy while ordering at your next happy hour or girls night in, take a look at this Web MD article about skinny cocktails here! If you're interested in just seeing what your current drink intake equals in calories check out this alcohol calorie counter here! Carin began her IM=X Pilates journey at the end of December in 2016, "I wasn't going to wait until the New Year to start!". Living close by and driving by the studio often enough she became curious about Pilates. However curiosity did not encourage her to start her free week trial with us. After a lengthy battle with breast cancer, requiring multiple reconstructive surgeries and hospitalizations she was unable to workout in the traditional sense. After beating her illness Carin's doctors recommended that she do Pilates to help her regain her strength and mobility and to add it to her overall recovery. Being a low impact exercise that could be modified to her particular needs was exactly what she needed. After Carin walked in our door she has been a dedicated member with our studio. Committing to at least five classes a week she has come so far physically than she had expected when she first began. Carin's initial goals when she began her IM=X journey was to gain back her strength (noting that her lung capacity had weakened due to her illness). Now she's stronger and gained more mobility back than she had ever thought was possible and even accomplished another unforeseen goal, being able to do a full set of push ups without falling behind (which is one of the more exciting personal goals for a good majority of people we believe!) Carin doesn't take all of the glory for herself though. Ensuring to thank everyone at the studio for the constant encouragement to do the best that she can to help her not only reach her goals but exceed them, finding new boundaries of health and wellness in her life. Not just in the physical aspect but in her mental aspect as well. Even during the exercises that have proven difficult she just smiles with the comment "I just go to my happy place" and continues pushing on calling IM=X 'cheaper than therapy and a great anti-depressant'. I am so grateful for the patience of the staff and other members. There's no competition and everyone is so encouraging to do your personal best And being a mother Carin also says that her kids were a huge impact on her decision to start Pilates. Saying she made a commitment to get her health back no matter how difficult it would be. With inspirational help from her family, friends and IM=X family Carin came with a goal to come to 100 classes by July 2017 and at this rate she's going to hit this goal by June 1st (an entire month ahead of schedule!).
Carin plans on continuing her journey with IM=X Pilates, a dedicated member who serves to inspire everyone who comes through our doors, make new members feel welcome and bring some humor to each of the classes (even during abs;)).
