Lauren started her IM=X Pilates journey close to a year and a half ago and has become a regular in our studio classes. She had never tried Pilates before she came to us, but was doing some yoga and wanted to try reformer Pilates for the added strength and flexibility work involved with it. With her time with us, Lauren has used our workouts to help her lose an impressive 65 pounds! I've finally found a workout that I like! The past year and a half that I've been doing Pilates is the longest I've ever consistently worked out in my life! When Lauren isn't kicking butt in the classroom she have a busy lifestyle, as a molecular geneticist in a laboratory at an IVF clinic, traveling the world and a member of the flute section in the Denver Concert Band. She is the perfect example of how to add self care and a healthy life style to one that is already pretty busy to begin with. She has grown so much in her time with IM=X in both the ways of health, strength and confidence that instructors and members have seen. I have seen so many changes in my body since I first started! the biggest and most noticeable change has been my overall strength. I can see a difference in every part of my body- legs, arms, back and especially my core! When asked about what she would say to those who are considering IM=X or those who are looking for something to change up their routine from the norm, Lauren had nothing but great things to say about our method as well, stating that if anyone who is considering trying IM=X, that it is definitely worth the try, and it was the one of the best things she has done for her overall health and wellness... not to mention a great stress reliever. For those who have never tried Pilates, Lauren recommends it because there's not a lot to not like about Pilates! Lauren has been coming to classes consistently during her time with us (when she's not exploring the world of course) and has seen fantastic results. She is a favorite in our classes and is always there with a smile through the hardest parts of classes. Her progress has been so special to the IM=X family to watch her grow in ways of strength, confidence and in her new smaller sizes! We've been truly touched to have been apart of her process of a healthier lifestyle and couldn't be more excited to see what she is going to do next with us, and I guess you could say that the feeling is mutual. Our July sale is in full swing and we want YOU to join us! Why join IM=X you ask? Well there's many reasons why Pilates is beneficial for every-BODY and we want to help you learn more about what we can do for you.
Pilates is an all body workout. It works all the tiny muscles that you might not think to work on your own, therefore creating a stronger and healthier you. Some of the areas that are a focus for Pilates includes: hip flexors, spinal muscles, metatarsals (feet) and the pelvic floor. Ok, so if it's not something that you think about working on, then why do it right? Well, with that 'feel the burn' stigma, people tend to focus on working on parts that are aesthetically pleasing... the arms, legs and abs. But, truth be told, it's all those little things you don't tend to think about that actually keep you young and beautiful. For example. People who have weak hip flexors have a delayed reaction time, can have issues walking (picking up the feet), and with that it creates a higher likelihood of falling when older. Those who don't have strong metatarsals lose the arch in their foot, creating back pain and un-supportive posture, which has problems of it's own. As for the pelvic floor, working those bladder muscles can help prevent some embarrassing situations caused by incontinence in the future. Pilates gets deep into the body and strengthens you inside out. It helps you lose inches, build muscle, tone and has been linked with multiple positive aspects of health, and is used for physical therapy after injuries. So, if you do Pilates regularly, you are building these muscles that keep you safe, and can decrease your likelihood of having injury during an accident, and in some cases can prevent an accident altogether (trips and falls). Each class at IM=X includes all positive aspects that Pilates has to offer, in a format that everyone can participate no matter age, gender or physical fitness level. An additional aspect that IM=X adds to each class is stretching to increase flexibility. Not just because it feels good, but because stretching is crucial to keep your body young, healthy and safe. If you have a 9-5 desk job or if you stand all day your body's muscles shrink, creating tight spots that makes it difficult to do physical activity when the time comes, and adds pain throughout the body. Hip flexors are a big culprit for both sit down and stand up jobs. Staying in one position all day makes the hip flexors shrink, then pulling your posture forward, creating back pain. In each class we take the time to stretch and release all of those tight spots to help you lengthen and help make those mystery aches and pains disappear. There are many health benefits of Pilates, a lot of which you don't tend to think about until you begin to practice habitually. Just taking 3 classes a week with IM=X people report feeling more relaxed (reduced stress), more flexible, less aches and pain, stronger core and a smaller waist. Join Seth Monday evenings and Wednesdays at noon to up your cardio game while building muscle with hyper focus. Seth is an expert at keeping you motivated and moving, while safe. He can modify for multiple conditions, so we encourage you to try something outside of your comfort zone to see if your body changes! Steps and Weights: Our one and only Darci is going to be teaching a light cardio and muscle building class Monday mornings to strengthen your cardiovascular endurance as well as tone and strengthen the entire body. Not a lot of step choreography will be included in this class, don't worry. Darci can't count and won't remember how many of what was done and when... :) Pilates in the Park: It's back! Our 6th year in a row and we are so honored to offer this FREE Community Event! We are hosting this free mat class Tuesdays mornings from 8:15-9 at Civic Green Park and we want EVERYONE to join us! This class is meant for all level to join in as we will start off at a beginner level and then work up to a more intermediate level during the Summer. Walking Class: Enjoy the beautiful Highlands Ranch open space and walking trails and spend time with friends! Join us for a free hour walking class Tuesday mornings before Pilates in the Park. We will meet at Civic Green Park at 6:45 am and walk until 7:45. This is great for anyone who needs a light introduction into exercise and anyone who wants to meet and make new friends! We want everyone to join us and create a tight knit community. After you've been joining our free classes and start to understand what IM=X has to offer, introduce yourself to our $10 classes! These classes are limited to non-reformer classes, but with all the benefits that you could ask for! These classes are a great option for someone who is just getting back into fitness. We are adding a brand new class with a brand new instructor Kimberly called IM=X Seat and Legs. This class will make you feel the BURN. Focusing more on lower body to help you reach all the tough spots to a toned, lean and strong body. While the focus is lower body you'll feel your arms as well as your abs after every class and will help you work up a sweat for a little extra cardio in your life as well. Kimberly is a fantastic instructor and welcomes those of all fitness levels to join her for this Pilates fusion class! You can join Kimberly and others looking to work every Tuesday and Thursday at 12-12:50. We've replaced restorative yoga on Tuesday nights with a new IM=X class called Butts and Guts. It's pretty self explanatory, we're focusing on glutes and abs. So if you're one of the many people who think they could use a little extra love to really push and reach their goal of strong flat abs and a strong and good looking butt this one is for you. This class is every Tuesday night from 6:30-7:30 and will be rotating instructors with Ashley, Darci and Sara. Restorative yoga is back! Irina is going to be adding a very relaxing class in on Sunday evenings to help you release stress and work out any kinks you may have in the body. Not sure if you'll like restorative yoga (which is crazy because who doesn't need to slow down for a little bit and relax?) then check out this article from someone who's never tried but highly recommends it right here. This gives you a great place to start in improving your health without feeling like you're starving yourself or staying away from your favorite foods all at once. Measurements Participate in a weekly measurement (tape measurement to be done in private) to earn 1 point! We are including weekly body measurements to keep track of who is losing inches! We will help you stay accountable to yourself so you witness your progress.
